Old and New Friends – On Saturday, September 21, 2019, I will be participating in the 13th Annual 5k Run/Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer in Long Island which supports the initiatives of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (“NOCC”). While many of us have a sister, a wife, a girlfriend, or female friends, there is one thing we all have in common – we ALL have a mother. As many of you know, my mom Judy battled ovarian cancer for 7+ years, and celebrated remission for the third time from this dreadful disease in the fall of 2013. With some of the best ovarian cancer doctors, who are supported by the NOCC, she bravely battled and defeated ovarian cancer. I also believe her love of life, family, and positive attitude through her various treatments directly contributed to her ability to beat this awful disease. With my mom’s sudden passing from a brain aneurysm at the end of 2013, this annual event, and the efforts of the NOCC initiatives, continues to take on an even greater meaning for me. The mission of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition is to raise awareness and promote education about ovarian cancer. The NOCC is committed to improving the survival rate and quality of life for women with ovarian cancer. I want nothing more than to see women all over the world beat this disease as my mom did. I hope by participating in this event, and listing the symptoms below, I am contributing a small amount to help all of the women in our lives. My goal is to raise between $5,000-7,500. Every little bit helps!
