Sally O'Shea

I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer (IIIc) in the summer of 2010. I am amazed each and every day at how long I've continued to live with this disease. It's not something that goes away, though I guess I had a period of remission in the beginning. Ovarian cancer takes hold, it travels, it stays. I haven't "survived" it, I "live with it". You have to make peace with it and honor your body, even if it has this unwelcome intruder. I've had several recurrences requiring additional chemo, have had different types of radiation to my back, where it chose to travel. I retired mid-way through this journey and am grateful to have the time to do what my body asks each day-not always what I might want to do. I have an amazing family that I adore and deeply loving friends that I live for. My team at MGH and the resources of Cancer Connection in Northampton, MA have been integral part of my health and healing as well.

I will be walking this year in memory of Diane Walins, a wacky friend from Maine who I had the joy of visiting and taking to a quilt show in her last week of life, only a few weeks ago.

Your donation will help NOCC spread knowledge of the signs and symptoms of this deadly cancer and assist in research.

Please help me support National Ovarian Cancer Coalition by making a contribution to my fundraiser and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance National Ovarian Cancer Coalition's great cause! Additionally, you can ask me how you can get involved too.
Together, we can make a difference!
