"I'm reluctant to attempt a shampoo today, what harm will that do? It's not like it won't stop falling out. Kind of getting the 'let's get it over with" attitude. So yeah, I'll wash it again today. And wear Fred's hat, lol."

Looking back, I'm happy to see that I could still find the humor in losing my hair. I even had my head henna'ed at one point! But I wasn't always so optimistic.

I felt so alone when diagnosed in 2014… I don't think I'd even _heard_ of ovarian cancer. To my knowledge, none of my immediate family had ever been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. So of course I felt isolated: that is until I found the NOCC’s Valley of the Sun Chapter. The relief of meeting long-term survivors and witnessing the dedication to their mission inspired me to become a volunteer. When the cancer returned in 2016, my “teal sisters” were there to support me and my family with emails, texts, cards, phone calls, etc. Truly, _no one_ fights alone.

Your gift will be applied to the Four Pillars of the NOCC:

* Earlier Awareness
Symptoms are vague and ordinary. The earlier it's caught, the greater the odds of long-term survivability (yeah, that's what they call it).

* Quality of Life for Survivors
Our chapter started a Survivor Retreat 2 years ago at a local resort. Attendees came from all walks of life, from a teenager to a gal in her 80's, and we hosted more survivors than last year! It is an amazing, and emotional, weekend in the company of teal sisters.

* Community Events
We distribute information at health fairs, treatment centers and wherever else they'll let us! I've even left awareness cards in the women's restrooms at sporting events, lol.

* Research
Did you know there isn't a reliable test for ovarian cancer? Unlike breast cancer, there isn't a self-test. Who palpitates their ovaries on a regular basis????

Donate generously and contribute to the day when this cancer is curable in all stages.

Gratefully, your teal-haired warrior for a cure,

~ Anna
