Walk by Faith

Thank you for visiting. My beautiful mother, Hortensia Estrada was diagnosed with Stage 2 ovarian cancer last month, after the discovery of a malignant tumor in one of her ovaries. She endured a painful, but successful hysterectomy in August, and has started 1/6 chemotherapy sessions to make sure that the cancer is gone. Everything is going well after her first session, so we continue to pray that she continues to fight and stay strong through her journey.

Please help us continue to pray for her and give thanks to God for her swollen foot, which was an indication that something wasn't right with her body. Ovarian cancer signs mimic normal symptoms we all experience for different reasons at one time or another. With little to no knowledge of these, my mom didn't rush to the hospital or to her doctor to explain what she was experiencing. Please tell your loved ones that no symptom is too small to check out. None of us rushed her to the doctor when her foot was swelling inexplicably, either, so even that was not a cause for alarm.

But hindsight is 20/20, and as a result of our lack of knowledge, this cause is now very dear to our family, and we appreciate all the support we can get! We hope to get the family together in Austin or San Antonio next year to honor my mom in this awesome 5k. God willing, I will be able to attend the Run Together 5k in El Paso on April 7, 2019 with other friends and family who have been touched by cancer. Together we can make a difference! Even though none of these funds will go to her directly, they will go to an organization that increases awareness, and helps people in a San Antonio community that embraced me when I moved here from El Paso. If more people knew about ovarian cancer, they could catch it in its earlier stages, and we would be helping save more lives. Thanks in advance for your time and donations!

Anyone who knows my mom knows she is the kindest, most selfless mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend. In her time of need, she continues to pray for all of us the most, and has remained SO, SO faithful. What does not kill us, makes us stronger, and we know she will come out from this experience stronger than ever!
